Celtics Vets team battled against adversity to bag a superb win against a very good Engles side. Rado had to drop out before kick off, John Lambert was battling illness, Miguel had just returned from an arduous football blitz in Barcelona (with a trophy of course), Robbie had a vigorous warm up but alas his hamstring was not up to it (although he heroically came on for a few minutes towards the end to give someone a break ), and Dave pulled up injured in the second half. In spite of these setbacks, the hoops got stronger as the game went on, and turned in a dominant second half to secure the win. Celtic defended well in the first half as Engles certainly looked good with some of their passing and individual skills. But they never really created clear cut chances and Celtic were able to carve out some half chances when they got hold of the ball. It was 0-0 at the break , but the half time team talk was positive , with Brad especially rallying the troops and getting everyone to believe the game could be won. He talked the talk and then walked the walk and was at the centre of Celtics attacks in the second half. Engles visibly tired and Celtic now bossed the ball. Following some neat possession , Andrei slipped Brad in to finish clinically. Andrei and Brad were in the thick of it in the box a few minutes later as the ball fell to John who stroked home the second. Engles pulled one back , but Celtic were not to be denied. Brad pounced on a mistake from the keeper, who got himself on the wrong side of the ball and fouled. Brad dusted himself off and converted from the spot. Celtic march on full of confidence and ready to face leaders Mangfoldigt next week
