Nine brave Celtic souls made the arduous journey to an ungodly kick off time of midweek 2110 in rypaken... Some have labelled us true heroes for making such as effort... We will let history decide. The game started with an unfamiliar face as GK, the extremely welcome return from injury of Andy Lee. Do you have a guy that can run rapid marathons in your squad? Stick him in goal.
Celtic dominated the first half with a lovely balance to the squad. Eventually the dominance paid off, McHugh made half a yard and dispatched a crashing effort to make it 1-0. With half time approaching, Rahul won a strong header which put Mellor into space on the edge of the box. For once is his life, Mellor didn't rush the shot... In off the post, 2-0 before half time. Hakoah obviously listened to our half time team talk about making a strong start to the second half to put the game to bed, they passed it directly to Joe Ryan on the edge of the box and he punished them with a really smart finish. It wouldn't be Celtic without a bit of self inflicted jeopardy after that, as we let Hakoah get back into it but sam, ed and Gray got us back under control.
Biggest credit goes to aleksei for not only keeping it just one goal but also for coming all the way from Valby to play the second half. Following this, innovative tactical use of missing the target to use the long distance behind the goal to retrieve the ball was very smart timewasting from this Celtic side. A cracking team goal slotted away by Raul capped off the victory. MOTM was awarded to Michael gray for a very classy performance from midfield, as the victory takes us to the top of the league!
